Not to much to say. Had bloods done today on plasma. hb is 7.1 this is another drop of about .3 but that is less than normal weekly drops of 1. So thats ok - if I was a normal person and not having this treatment they would have probably have given me a blood transfusion.
I had my picture taken by the evening post who are doing some sort of article on transplantation.
Felt weird after plasma - had to go to bed for about 3 hours and sleep, but felt better after that. Can't really explain the feeling except that it was weird.
Still waiting for more of an idea of what th antibodies in my blood are and how they are going to move forward.
Will try and write more tomorrow.

Desensitisation Protocol
What is it all about?
Having already had 2 kidney transplants that have had varied life spans my body has been exposed and thus sensitised to a number of antibodies. The kidney they want to use for the next transplant (a fmaily member) has one of these antibodies and thus my body would attack the organ if it was transplanted without precautionary treatment.
This treatment is called desensitisation, it has not been carried out at my unit yet but has been succesful in the states and London.
The basic idea behind the programme is to remove that antibody and prevent it from growing back and attacking the kidney.
The treatment includes plasmaphersis and the use of Rituximab an antibody killer. This is carried out until the antibodies reach the correct level and the transplant is carried out. I am not going into any more detail here, I will do it as I blog the progress.

Purpose of the blog "Specific topics"
I am getting into writing this blog and feeling it could be a very rewarding experience. I am going to add some discipline and try and tackle different topics each week. These topics will be related to my thinkings on the medical treatment, my health and keeping happy. I feel this will allow me to learn and to be more coherent in my blog. I will try and undertake research around the topic and note it hear. At the end of each week I will try and put together resume of that topic.
I will set the following topics.
1. What is happiness. What does the research say. What are my thinkings. How can we achieve it, why do we strive for it?
2. Religion and health including death.
3. Transplantion. Where it stands at present. What are the hopes. How do patients see the future?
